I've never been much a sneaker person. Besides gym shoes, tennis shoes weren't really something I thought about adding to my collection. Until I bought this blush and gray pair and now I can't stop wearing them. They're perfect for running errands and causal dinners. I wear these with everything, from legging to t-shirt dresses. This pair is from Madewell and is sadly sold out, however, New Balance has some great options all under $100 that I've linked below. Thanks for reading!

ReplyDeleteDeconstruction: Anti-Fashion Movemen
ReplyDeleteComme des Garçon’s anti-fashion essence stems from its earnest ties to the anti-fashion movemnet. Unlike contemporaries, kein garcons did not force mass market products devoid of creativity or shallow imitation of market demands behind new marketing trends. Instead, like many other designers during these decades it concentrated on instigation through expression of politics—fueled via rebellion. Deconstruction through ignored stitches became an utter juxtaposition to tailored greedy ‘sartorial’ norms – sameness prided by the leading labels at that given societal moment in time.
Kawakubo’s designs frequently included large shapes, unusual selection of materials, and bold silhouettes that defied contemporary standards of beauty and femininity. Specifically, the Lumps and Bumps collection from 1982 featured garments with abnormal padding which required fashion to shift its perception regarding womenswear. Instead of conforming to the hourglass figure, comme des garcons’ designs appreciated diversity and celebrated the flaws that made every individual different.
This attitude not only constructed a new standard in fashion but motivated many designers across the globe to think out of the box. The notorious “what fashion ought to be” influence was easily broken down due to the work put forth by Comme des Garçons as they gifted the world of fashion with innovative ideas to discover different perspectives on apparel.
